Eat to the band.
A surplus you can see, a plan that steps the band up each week, and a log that is one photograph.
The bandInside, short or past
The surplus is a band
A single number is a coin toss. One grain of rice over and you failed, one under and you starved. kcalc.ai gives you a range and asks you to land in it. Short of the band is a shortfall to close, and the app says so.
Inside the band. Hold it there.
The planOne step a week
The plan learns you
Your starting point comes from a standard equation and stops mattering fast. The app re-estimates what you burn from what you log and what you weigh, then steps the band up a little each week.
ProteinOne target, every day
Protein first
Set the protein target and the app keeps it in view every day. The rest is arithmetic. Hit it often enough and Macro Marksman climbs a tier.

Apple HealthFive scopes, each optional
Nothing is typed twice
Connect Apple Health and the app reads your workouts, your active energy and your weigh-ins, and writes your nutrition back. Every scope is a separate switch.
TogetherUp to 10 in a party
Train with people
A party is a weekly arena of up to 10. Half the score is adherence to your own band, so a gainer and a cutter compete on the same terms and nobody wins by eating less.
A partner is one person, and nothing between you is ranked.

The Demon and the Executive
Two of the app's four themes are built for gaining. You choose on the first screen and can change your mind in settings.
Workout Demon
Dark and fast.
Executive Theory
The same energy, under discipline.
Questions
Before you decide
How big should the surplus be?
The app sets it and moves it. A plan is a series of weekly checkpoints, and the daily target glides between them, so the band steps up a little at a time rather than in one jump. Every target has a floor under it.
Does it plan my workouts?
No. kcalc.ai does not write training programmes and does not tell you what to lift. It reads the workouts you have already recorded, through Apple Health, and counts the energy they burned.
What does Apple Health do?
It reads your workouts, your active energy and your body weight, and writes back your dietary energy and your macros. Five scopes, each a separate switch, and all of it optional. Apple Health is the only health integration in the app.
